George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals has extensive experience providing a wide range of multicultural services.
Buddhist, Taoist and Traditional
Anita has been in the funeral industry since 2021. Having been through the painful journey of losing someone herself, Anita saw there was very limited assistance for our multicultural sector and feels privileged to be part of the George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals team, assisting families in their time of need.
Originally from Taiwan, Anita speaks Mandarin and a little Cantonese and of course English.
Sikh, Hindu, Baha’i and Traditional
Amardeep has been in the funeral industry since 2022. In that time, he’s had the privilege of supporting countless families through some of their most difficult moments, especially within the Sikh, Hindu and multicultural communities. Coming from a Sikh background, Amardeep knows how important it is to have funeral services that understand and respect cultural and religious traditions, and to ensure that families feel supported in a way that honours their customs, values, and beliefs.
Amardeep considers it an honour to be able to truly make a difference for families when they’re at their most vulnerable. “Being able to guide them with compassion, while ensuring the cultural values are honoured, is incredibly rewarding”, says Amardeep.
Asian, Sikh and Traditional
Martin joined the funeral industry in Singapore in 1967 and migrated to Australia in 1979 and has worked in the funeral industry in Sydney and Brisbane all this time. Martin’s vast experience in the industry brings a strong knowledge of our various diverse multicultural communities.
Martin has a deep understanding of our Asian communities and their respective faiths, including Buddhist, Taoist, Christian, Catholic, Atheist and Sokha and the importance of rituals, customs and traditions. Over the years Martin has also worked closely with our Hindu, Sikh and Bahai communities.
As some families prefer to repatriate their loved one to their homeland, Martin has developed extensive knowledge of international repatriation requirements and has strong relations with the various Consulates.
Martin particularly enjoys helping first generation families meet their embedded rituals and practices as closely as possible as allowed by local laws and sharing his knowledge with second generation families.
