Immediate care and coordination
We're available 24/7. We’ll transfer your loved one into our care with dignity, collecting and dispatching medical certificates and registering the death with the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
We help families in Brisbane have the funeral or memorial service that honours their loved one's life and story with care and respect.
These days a funeral or memorial service can be whatever you and your loved one want it to be. Whether you would like a traditional funeral in a church or a beachside memorial, we have extensive experience in planning services that represent a life well lived. We will walk you through the process from start to finish.
Over the years, our funeral directors have planned a range of religious and faith-based services, from Chinese Buddhist and Christian to Russian and Serbian Orthodox amongst others. We have relationships with many religious communities in Brisbane and will handle the planning with respect.
We are proud to serve Brisbane’s multicultural communities and take pride in planning services that reflect your culture. Our experienced team understands the importance of rituals, customs and traditions and will work closely with you to honour those connections.
Each service is as unique as the person that is being celebrated. From their favourite music and poems to treasured photos and mementos, we’ll ensure these are included in the day to design a service that feels true to their personality.
While there is a lot to plan, we break it down and guide you through the process step-by-step. Here are some of the elements we will help with:
1
We're available 24/7. We’ll transfer your loved one into our care with dignity, collecting and dispatching medical certificates and registering the death with the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
2
We'll sit down with you for a personal consultation, liaise with your chosen clergy or celebrant, arrange music, help craft press notices and coordinate with florists to create a service that truly honours your loved one.
3
Whether you choose our chapel or another venue, we'll coordinate with your preferred cemetery or crematorium, provide the hearse and funeral vehicles and organise after-funeral refreshments.
4
We offer private family viewing facilities and prepare your loved one with the utmost care.
5
We provide memorial attendance books, mourning stationery, live-streaming and recording, and can connect you with grief support whenever needed.
Thank you Erin for the wonderful job.
For a number of reasons we had to organize the burial within a few days and Erin made this happen. She had the utmost patience and perseverance while still being very compassionate. Due to the short time frame, Erin was assisted at the start by Danielle from the Redcliffe office who also was compassionate and caring.
My experience with George Hartnett was nothing but positive.
All of the staff were kind, compassionate and made the process of organising the funeral and cremation much easier. At no time did I feel under pressure and felt like all options were presented to me a respectful, considerate and thoughtful manner.
My family has always used GHMF.
Our funeral director Erin was excellent in helping our family organize mums funeral. Her service and attention to detail was perfect and everything went perfect for my mums service.
A funeral generally takes place within a few days or weeks after passing. It typically involves either a burial or cremation. A memorial is held after a burial or cremation, sometimes weeks or months later. Both are opportunities to honour their life in a way that feels meaningful, personal and true to their story.
There’s no need to rush. We’ll guide you through each step at a pace that feels right, helping with immediate arrangements while allowing time to make thoughtful decisions about the service.
Absolutely. We encourage personal touches such as favourite songs, treasured photos, meaningful objects to create a service that reflects your loved one’s life, personality and the memories you hold dear.
Yes. We can help incorporate eco-friendly choices such as natural materials, simple floral arrangements and sustainable keepsakes, ensuring the service aligns with your loved one’s values and your family’s wishes.
Yes. We’re experienced in arranging services across a range of locations and will coordinate all logistics to ensure the venue you choose feels right and reflects your loved one’s story.
For the initial planning meeting, we recommend bringing a supportive family member or friend, their personal details including full name, date of birth, residence and marriage certificates, a recent photo and any prepaid funeral plan documents. Decisions around presentation (clothing, perfume and makeup) and photos to be included in funeral books can be made later in the planning process.
Whether you need us now or want to plan ahead, we're ready to support you 24/7.
